Visual Basic is an object-oriented programming language that uses the Microsoft Windows platform. The programs that are created using Visual Basic will look and act like standard Windows programs. Visual Basic provides one the tools to create windows with elements such as menus, text boxes, command buttons, option buttons, list boxes and scroll bars.

A Computer cannot understand any persons spoken language. A spoken language such as English , French, is simply too general and ambiguous for computers to understand. Therefore, we must adapt to the machine and learn the computer language so that the computer can understand. This is where visual basic comes into it - when you type visual basic source code into the computer, the computer processes these statements into Visual Basic language. The statements in visual basic, however, do not have multiple meanings within the same context.
 

CMPE 106 - VISUAL BASIC Course

The CMPE 106 Visual Basic 6.0 course has been designed to teach the students computer programming with Visual Basic 6.0 as a part of the full CMPE 106 course. Therefore the course CMPE 106 is divided into two sections. The Visual Basic section of the course is studied 2 hours a week in the computer laboratory.
