Capstone Design Projects

Capstone Projects also known as "Senior design projects" are the centerpiece of the mechanical and mechatronics engineering curricula's professional component, allowing students to be involved in interesting, real-world activities. Each senior is required to complete this course. Capstone projects are each advised by a faculty member who supervises the capstone project teams. 

The objective of the capstone design course is to provide students with a realistic independent design and development experience that allows them to integrate and apply the basic disciplinary material they have learned during their engineering program to solve practical design problems by synthesizing a new product, device or process within multiple realistic constraints.

Capstone design projects allow the students to experience the rigor and structure of a full-cycle design, including: Problem definition, Benchmark studies, Concept generation, Concept evaluation, Concept selection and feasibility studies, Engineering design analyses, Prototype fabrication and testing.

FALL 2021-2022 - SUBMISSION DEADLINES

  Project Selection Deadline: 13 Oct 2021
  Report Submission to Supervisor for approval: 3 Jan 2022
  Capstone 1 Project Report Submission Deadline : 7 Jan 2022
  Capstone 2 Project Report Submission Deadline : 7 Jan 2022
  Capstone 2 Online Project Presentation and Demonstration : TBA
  PRESENTATION SCHEDULE: TBA
  PRESENTATION TIME : The presentation must not exceed 15 minutes.

Note: 
Please submit your reports to your respective Supervisors for approval one week before the final submission deadline. 
Please upload your report in MS Teams in your respective Project Group after approval of your respective Supervisors.
Late submissions will be penalized with reduction in overall grades. 
Please upload your Project reports, Drawings, CAD Models, Presentation, Poster, Video, Animations etc in your respective MS Team. Thank you.

Capstone Registration Process: 

PRE-REQUISITES: MENG303 - Computer Aided Engineering Design, and other related courses to the Project as proposed by the Project Supervisor. 

Course Registration for Capstone 1, will be carried out after the process below. Students who are unable to formulate a team, chose a Project, and get the Approval of the concerned Supervisor, and forward it to Capstone Coordinator, will not be able to register for Capstone 1 this Semester."

Capstone Projects for Fall 2021-2022

a. Please formulate your Team of 5 members (maximum).
b. Please choose a project from the Capstone Project list above and join the MS Teams for Capstone 1 below.
c. Please contact the concerned Supervisor and get his/her Approval via email.
d. Please forward the Approval Email and the Project Proposal form via email to the Capstone 1 Coordinator (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Qasim Zeeshan).  
e. Please include the name, student ID, and email ID of all Team Members in your email.
