Invitation to Design Week 2024-2025

Invitation to Design Week 2024-2025
Published Date: Wednesday, 21 May 2025

Design Week is a project-based activity for Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year students from Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering programs to present their design project work.

The objective of this activity is to provide students with an experience that allows them to integrate and apply the basic disciplinary material and knowledge they have acquired during their engineering courses to solve engineering design problems.

The design week will culminate with the Senior year Interdisciplinary student teams from the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering programs presenting their Capstone design projects. These projects were designed over two semesters as part of the Capstone Design course, and typically included a working prototype. These projects are intended to offer innovative solutions to real-world challenges and provide our students with real-world independent design and development experience to solve practical design problems by synthesizing a new product or process within multiple realistic constraints. Through these projects our students also learn to apply and develop their critical thinking skills, recognize human and societal needs, and design novel, sustainable engineering solutions. This further provides our students with a great opportunity to experience the design process, as a team and develop their interpersonal and communication skills. Projects are implemented conforming to the relevant standards, ethical issues, and environmental policies.

The projects will be on display in the labs and workshop of Department of Mechanical Engineering on 30 May 2025.

The schedule and venue for the Design Week and the projects that will be showcased in this week are ilisted in the poster.
